The English Section of the Annual Debating Competition - The George Hong Cup - culminated on 24 April 2026, providing S1 to S3 students with a rigorous display of oratory and critical thinking. This annual event was made possible by a generous donation from alumnus Mr. Simon Wong, a distinguished legal professional and Deputy District Judge, who established the cup in honour of former Vice-Principal Mr. Hong Po Chuen, George, to foster language competency and critical thinking skills.
In a closely contested final, the Negative Team - comprising Shaun Ngai (1D), Carlos Lam (4D), and Matthew Lam (4C) - emerged as the champions. They were followed by the Affirmative Team runners-up, Jayden Ho (1D), Louis Leung (1D), and Titus Wan (4D). Special commendation goes to Carlos Lam of Class 4D, who was awarded the title of Best Debater for his exceptional performance. The school congratulates all participants for their dedication to the art of debate and thanks Mr. Wong for his continued support.
